Read about this collection below.
Over 2000 years before the pyramids, the Ceide fields (pronounced Kayja) were formed in the west of Ireland. What is now an underground city under excavation, is also the most extensive stone age monument in the world. It began as a collection of fields and paddocks defined by stone walls which were built by local farmers that stretched for miles. No, not the farmers dummy! the fields. Pilates wasn't a thing back then. Over centuries these walls became the foundations of a sprawling metropolis. While little is known of the early inhabitants of what may be earth's first city, the idea that these farmers became warriors is not beyond the realms of imagination as potential foreign invaders may have posed a threat to their existence. Evidence suggests that, be they farmers, warriors or both, they prevailed and created a sophisticated and advanced society that prospered for centuries. But what did they look like? Druids, shamans, sorcerers, simple farmers or a blend of other worldly creatures. The archeological dig on what is now a heritage site continues in County Mayo on Ireland's west coast. In the meantime myth and legend provide ample sustenance for the senses. These Art Gratis images were created using AI and digital drawing tools and portray envisaged Ceide Warriors.
